ATMs as Dirty while Toilets, But Don’t Panic Call it filthy money site . A new survey out of Britain promises that ATMs are as filthy as general public toilets and researchers say they possess the microbes to show it. ‘We were surprised by our results as the ATM devices were shown to be seriously contaminated with bacteria; to the same level as nearby community toilets,’ Dr. Richard Hastings told the Daily Mail. Hastings can be a microbiologist for BioCote, a ongoing company which makes an anti-bacterial coating that one assumes would work well on ATMs.
